The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Work Supervision (2019) is designed to assess occupational competence in the workplace. Learners are required to demonstrate their skills, knowledge and experience in the supervision of their colleagues. This qualification is suitable for supervisors responsible for carpenters, bricklayers, plumbers and other trade occupations.

This NVQ provides formal recognition of practicing as a trade supervisor.

We offer a nationwide service, made possible using our on-line portfolio Learning Assistant. Your NVQ will be assessed using the product of your work e.g. contract documents. Your knowledge will be assessed using professional discussion or written reflective account.

  2. Developing and maintaining good occupational working relationships in the workplace

  3. Confirming the occupational method of work in the workplace

  4.  Implementing and maintaining health, safety, environmental and welfare practices in the workplace

  5. Co-ordinating and organising work operations in the workplace

  6. Monitoring progress of work against schedules in the workplace

Optional Units (2 units from this group)

7. Allocating and monitoring the use of plant, machinery, equipment or vehicles in the workplace

8. Confirming work meets contractual, industry and manufacturers’ standards in the workplace

9. Implementing procedures to support the team performance in the workplace

10. Co-ordinating and confirming the dimensional control requirements of the work in the workplace the provision of products and services in construction.

Industry Recognition & Benefits

The Level 3 NVQ Diploma qualifies the holder to apply for the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) gold card.

What are the payment terms?

50% to begin the NVQ process; followed by 50% upon completion.

What are the NVQ Entry Requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements for the qualification; however, the potential learner must be able to demonstrate that they can meet the skills, knowledge and experience requirements of the NVQ before enrolment.

How long will my NVQ take to complete?

An assessment plan will be agreed during your Initial assessment/Induction and a planned end date agreed. However, we would expect your qualification to be complete within 16 weeks.

How is the NVQ qualification assessed?

Learning Assistant is the on-line NVQ portfolio. During the Initial assessment your assessor will identify the most appropriate optional units and provide advice and guidance regarding the range of evidence required. At this stage you will be introduced to Learning Assistant and uploading evidence. Feedback regarding your progress will be provided in a variety of ways: contact records transmitted using Learning Assistant, which also includes a % complete indicator. Your assessor will also maintain regular contact by phone, text message and email.

Your assessor will provide sufficient support throughout the assessment process to ensure timely completion of your NVQ.

If you want to work in construction, you are going to need a CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card providing assurance that you have acquired the necessary level of knowledge to operate safely on a construction site. It demonstrates that individuals have undertaken appropriate training and assists in demonstrating compliance with health and safety regulations. The holder of an NVQ will be able to apply for a CSCS card at the appropriate level.
